Swannanoa Valley Mus. Echoes of the Forest-Art Using Helene Trees
- Givens Highland Farms415 North Commons Court, Black Mountain, NC 28711, USA, Black Mountain,
Join us for the next presentation in our Past and Present Lecture Series as we welcome representatives from Echoes of the Forest, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to telling the story of the region’s recovery after the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene—a significant, 1,000-year geological event that reshaped Western North Carolina’s forests. Discover how salvaged Helene-fallen trees are being transformed by local artists and woodworkers into unique works of art. Each piece—called an “Echo”—shares the combined story of the tree’s journey and the artist’s vision, preserving history through creativity. The organization’s long-term goal is to establish a public Tree Trail across WNC, highlighting both the ecological and cultural heritage of the region. To learn more about Echoes of the Forest and their work, visit www.echoesoftheforest.org. In the Assembly Building at Givens Highland Farms Black Mountain. $5 for museum members and residents of Givens Highlands Farms.
